I've got a standard 8000 and an 8000HD, so I'm comparing how they function and think I've got a problem with the non-HD box.

If I'm recording something, I cannot watch anything else that's "live". I can bring up the guide, choose a channel, but get a blank screen. I can "Chan Up", the banner shows the next channel, and I get a blank screen.

If I hit the PIP button, the small window will show the channel # but no picture. If I hit SWAP during normal viewing, it swaps between the channel I'm watching and a blank screen.

My 8000HD does *not* act this way. It appears to function normally.

Is my 8000 broken ?? Or am I doing something wrong ??

Yes ... take it back and swap for a new one. Sounds like a bad tuner ... or perhaps, if you're talking about digital channels ... a bad MPEG decoder.

Anyway ... a bad something. Swap the box.
