I have a new Scientific Atlanta 8300HD DVR from TWC in New York (uses Passport); I've hooked it up to my ReplayTV so I can archive program, but can't figure out the proper process. I gather than some software systems have a "Copy to VCR" option for recorded shows, but TWC does not. Do I simply set the RTV to record, and then play the program I want archived?

I have the SA 8300HD from TWC in Houston. I archive programming by using the "Copy to VCR" choice from "LIST"

1. Click "LIST" on your remote

2. Highlight the recorded program & click "SELECT"

3. Choose "Copy to VCR" & click "SELECT"

4. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Instead of using a VCR, I use the inputs on my computer capture card. The result is a DVD quality mpeg file which I convert to DVD using 'SVCD2DVD' software.

Not sure that HD captures are true HD, but they are very good quality.

TWC in Houston seems to be running the SARA software. Pioneer passport does not have the copy to VCR feature so yes you will have to just press play.
