Hey all,

I've got a motorola DCT 6408 and I had a few questions. I'd like to be able to transfer recordings from it to my computer if possible. Also my father who pays the cable bill isn't the greatest with money and sometimes the cable company shuts the digital portion of our cable off. I got no problem with that I mean hey he's not paying right? But the problem i have is I've got recordings on there and I'd like to watch them but whenever the digital signal is off they won't work. Is there any way to get around this? Also is there any site that lists all the hacks/tricks you can do with this model?

I'd appreciate any help anyone could offer.

Thanks for your time,

Someone posted a few weeks ago that he sat down to watch some stored content when his cable was off-line due to an outage. Sure enough, the box was not able to "phone home" and the content could not be viewed. Another poster commented that this "feature" was a deal killer for a place like Florida where outages come frequently due to weather. It's also one reason why I haven't make the jump to the cableco DVR.
