Hey yall I was wondering if anyone knows if its possible to connect the 8300 pvr to my computer via sata cable and pull off the video thats been recorded on the pvr's hard drive.

I tried to connect it with an ordinary sata cable and the freaking thing wont fit beleive it or not. Do I need like some kind of "special" cable from the the cable company to get this thing working?

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

It's an External SATA II (eSATA) port. The cables are available in several places ... but not widely available yet.

However, you're not going to be able to pull off recorded video (in a usable format). The SATA port is being used for 'expansion drives'.

Alot more info can be found on this thread:

Nope that won't work at all. The SATA port is only for adding an external hard drive for expansion and its only supported by some SARA-based system's firmware.
