Help - Motorola DCT* DVR playback WITHOUT Digital cable connected

Hoping someone can shed some light. I have a bunch of recorded content on my Motorola DVR and want to take the box and playback content on an analog TV at another location (without digital cable).

OK - so I figured out how to change the component resolution setting (down to 480i) so I can at at least get the guide to show up through the video out. However, it won't even show an icon for my recordings - it just says waiting for channel to become available.

Is having the box hooked up to digital cable a requirement just to playback content, or is there some way to do this?

Thanks in advance!

They're designed to do that. It's part of a network, remove it from that network and it ceases to function. I don't think the cable co wants people to be taking their $800 DVRs out of their homes to heaven knows where.

Another forum user also reported that his stored content was unavailable at a time when his cable was down since the box could not phone home.

YMMV
