Does anyone have any experience with using Vonage and broadband service for the phone connection on a Tivo unit? We use Vonage for our phone service and have no problems making voice calls, or even sending and receiving faxes, but for some reason when the Tivo unit tries to make the daily call, it detects the dial tone, it makes the call and the other side answers, but it does not seem to be able to make a proper handshake and it will terminate the call.

Anyone out there using similar setup, and/or knows of a fix?

I don't know the answer to your Tivo question, but a common problem with internet based phone providers is that you can't call 911 in an emergency in most areas of the country. You might want to try it and see if you can connect, and if they pick up just explain that you're testing your 911 capability.

The company i work for discovered that none of our 18 branches can call 911. The government is now aware of the problem and has given these providers a few months to correct this huge problem, but in the meantime we have no 911 service.
