I use the Comcast DVR and like it -- except I can't "rip" from it to a DVD. I've read here I could if my PC were wired to capture the S-VHS (and audio) signal.

Problem is they really are far apart (?100ft?) -- upstairs "den" and Family room.

How far can I run S-video cable (and RCA Audio) w/ no ( or little) noticable loss?

As long as I'm doing it I may as well run down from the PC to the TV as well......any hints on where to buy "really long" S-video cables?

I am aware that this is not your question, but it seems to me that a much sumpler solution is to get a standalone DVD burner. You will gain an additional dvd player, with the ability to burn from just about any source. You can by a name brand (Philips, etc) for about $129. no-name brands for about $99. Go with a name brand.

Yes that might be a pretty good option.......I thought they needed a PC to run them? do those DVD burners have RCA analog video inputs?
