My In-Laws recently sold their house and bought an RV to 'travel the country'. We inherited their Big Screen, surround sound, DVR, etc..and a bunch of other useless crap lord knows we didn't need :o

Is this DVR, the RCA DVR40, any use to me without having a DirecTV connection (that's who they were with).

I have digital cable through Time Warner, if that matters.

Is it basically a useless piece of machinery without the DirecTV connection?

It has the DirecTV logo on the front, as well as the TIVO logo...but I'm subscribed to neither.

If it is of no use to me, what's it worth if I were to sell it?

Please bare with me as I am a newbie when it comes to home entertainment!

Thanks in advance.
