I am planning to get the Motorola 6412 for Comcast in the next few days. I have recently been using a DirecTIVO and hope to transition back soon (long story). Can you record two live shows with the 6412 and watch a third recorded show? You can do this with the DirecTIVO, but the information regarding the 6412 indicates that you can record two shows at the same time or record one and watch another, but I was hoping you could record two live shows and watch another previously recorded show.

TIA!

You may be able to record two and watch a third recorded. I know that if you're recording two, you have to be tuned to one of them. I don't know about the record two watch one from library option. I'll check it out.

Yes you can record two programs while you watch a recorded program. I do that all the time.

As already noted yes you can simultaneously record two shows while playing back a recording from the hard drive. My mom does it all the time with her Commie 6412.

I can do the same thing with my SA8000s, in case your cable company offers these as well . . . . .

The first test I did was to record 2 HD programs at the same time while watching a pre-recorded HD program. Worked great.
