I'm setting up a "TIVO PC" with Windows Media Center 2005 and an ATI Elite Wonder video card. I have a Motorola DCT2224 digital cable box and I would like to be able to TIVO and control the digital cable box from my PC via Media Center. From my limited research, I think I need an IR Blaster? Where do I get one that will work with my digital cable box and Windows MCE 2005?

An Ir Blaster is really nothing more than an IrED (Infrared Emitting Diode, just like an LED but its Ir) on the end of a wire with a mini earphone plug at the other end.

I made my own IR blaster for my TIVO for less than $5 by using two IrED's and an earphone plug from Radio Shack. Since I was not sure what direction the IrED should be connected I used two and connected them in opposite directions.

I have also seen them on E-bay rather cheap too.

Unless your video card or computer has an output for the IR Blaster I am not sure how you will connect it to your computer.

You also might want to ask this question in the HTPC forum.
