I have just purchased a Sony SXRD set and have it set up with a Cox Scientific Atlanta HD PVR, a Sony Receiver and a Toshiba DVD player. I am unable to get DTS five channel sound via the cable setup. Does the cable company provide DTS sound?

Doubt it. Usually DD from the HD channels.

I have a Sony 50" SXRD connected to a DVR/ cable box via HDMI, and to a DVD player with component cables. Both the cable and DVD are connected to my receiver with optical cables. The problem is this. I get DTS on my DVD discs, but not from cable. The strange thing in that when I am connected to a cable program that has DTS I get it only when the video input is not set to the cable HDMI input port. In other words when connected to an HBO movie with the TV connected to the HDMI input, and the the receiver gives me Prologic stereo. But if I simply change the TV input to any other input, I lose the video as expected by now get the sound from the video in DTS. Any ideas?
