I've been having some weird sound issues with my Onkeo s780, but i'm not sure if it's the culprit or not.
Here is what is happeneing
When I watch TV (hdtv,sd, anything thru the cable reciever moto 6412 series 2) i get about one second of lost audio, happens like once
every 30 minutes or so. Then i also get this audio flutter it last for about 3 seconds. . I'm running component video from cable box to tv. running opitcal from back of cable box to opitcal input on Onkeo s780.

I am going to switch to digital coax from cable box to audio reciver (s780) and see if the problem still shows up, then finally remove the reciver all together and see if it shows up. I been seeing lots of reports of audio dropouts with comcast

Has anyone ever seen any of these problems ???

It could be the following
bad opitcal cable (gonna try a replacement)
bad audio reciver (have not had any other problems with it)
bad cable box (in regards to the optical output).
weak signal from comcast

thanks
Matt

Does the lost audio come with any sort of pixellation on the screen? I have this problem, and have switched out my HD DVR about 3 times to try and fix it but they all do it. (I have comcast) It really makes me mad.

Mine tends to happen more often than yours and I wonder if it is related to the unit getting too hot, but when it happens the show that I am watching will essentially be unwatchable because it will happen once every 10-15 seconds.

I am getting the same thing but only on recorded shows not live tv. I get an audio gap and pixellation with it. It happens once every minute to a few minutes or so. I really need a fix for this because it makes watching very frustrating. I was watching the season premier of 24 and it was driving me nuts, please somebody help!
