Guys:

Which external stand alone(doesn't need a PC) recorder do you recommend?

I'd prefer a hard drive based system, with a simple record button, which I can later attach to my PC to archive the files, but a DVD recorder will do if that's not available/affordable (I want to keep it under $200).

I'm not looking to record TV, just record from an external video source (s-video)

thanks,
Jon

I have a lite-on DVD recorder I got from best buy from $70 and it works great. They say the pro to lite-on is a good mpeg encoder and the con is a confusing interface, but I managed to go from the camcorder to the DVD recorder just fine and it looked good. The cheapest price I've seen lately is around $100.
