Basically I want to replace 2 HIFI VCRs with a dual tuner DVR. I don't want Tivo or any subscription service - just the basic VCR controls (record at date/time on chan for length). 80 hours of hard disk or so should be good. Having a builtin DVD recorder/player would be nice, but not mandatory. The most important features would be adequate disk storage and dual tuners.
I went looking for options to replace our TiVos and came up empty. Everything was either tied to a subscription service, discontinued long ago, or too make-it-at-home for my tastes.
Most of the DVR/PVR's with DVD recorders built in (ie: Panasonic, etc...) don't have monthly subscriptions and are more along the lines of a VCR or a VCR with guide + service, but I don't recall ever hearing of one with dual tuners.

What kind of service do you have?
What kind of tuners does your TV have built-in?
What do you intend to use the 2 tuners for?
