If I were to go with comcast basic cable with no box can I buy a DVR for it? What I'm interested in doing is buying a box that I can use that has tivo like features. I am also looking for a box that I can share videos in other rooms.
Thanks

This depends on your local area. At this point, I believe Comcast hasn't gone all-digital/no analog anywhere, so you shouldn't have any problem hooking any decent DVR up to the cable and getting basic cable channels. Where you'd run into trouble is with digital cable. That requires a box or CableCards.

So what your saying is if I had digital but no box thats where I'd have the problems?

You cannot tune digital channels with an analog tuner.

I understand that, So do they have DVR's that take cable cards? Or are they all for analog?

Just one I know of: the $800 TiVo Series 3. Be forewarned, though, that a significant minority of folks buying the S3 are returning it because of trouble getting it working with CableCards.

Ya I'm a member on the tivo community and I heard all about it. I hope they can straighten it all out.
