i have DCT6416III, i was wondering what is TV pass card? is it functionably or not? i mean does it works?

Not used by most cable providers. An idea that the Fcc had that didn't pan out.

Perhaps you are talking about "CableCARD". The problem with this device is that the cable TV companies have been dragging their feet to get it (or allow it) implemented. They just love being in control and "renting" those cable boxes to people every month. Now that CableCARD is out there, albeit on a limited basis, we find it does not allow certain functionality. But a software soultion is being rolled out which does not have the same limitations.

I am guessing that the "pass card" was a forerunner of the Cable-CARD that never panned out.

There is a slot covered by a plastic door on my old Motorola black SD cable box and there was one on the back of my Motorola DTC6200 HD box I used to have.
