DirecTV has two DVRs that have an Ethernet port. HR21-200 and HR21-700. Is there a way to transfer or stream from DirecTV DVR hard-drive to your PCs hard-drive using the ethernet connection. Replay TV with the help of a program called DVArchive allows you to transfer from Replay TV to your PC. Replay TV was just bought by DirecTV. Does anyone know a way to transfer from a DirecTV DVR to your PC?

DirecTV is expected to sell a special tuner box for Windows Vista in the next year. That will allow you to use Windows Vista Media Center to do your recording, although it may require a new OEM Vista PC.

But there is no way to transfer recordings from the DirecTV HR20/HR21 DVR to your computer. You should not expect to ever see that capability.

For the foreseeable future, high-definition download from the DVR to PC via ethernet is a "TiVo exclusive" feature.
