For about 2 years I've had the Motorola DCT6412 PVR and was able to transfer video to my PC via firewire. I've been using CapDVHS and followed the many popular guides on how to do so.
A few months ago my 6412 died and I had to replace it with a DCT3416 Phase I. After that, streaming over firewire became a bitch! The .ts video files captured would only play a little (therefore ruling out encryption) but would stop soon after. They appear to contain a lot of errors. I've tried using projectx and HDTVtoMPEG2 to try to repair the videos but still they aren't watchable.
I've reinstalled the drivers again, tried different firewire ports, and different software such as VLC. I've ran out of ideas. I'm wondering if anyone else has similar issues and how they got around it.
