Yesterday I activated my primary (1 of 3) radio to receive "the best of Sirius" package.
Within 15 minutes radio #2 received the new channels. I haven't had a chance to check the primary radio however radio #3 currently can't receive the new Sirius channels.
I called customer service this morning questioning why #3 wasn't picking up Sirius, they replied the subscription of $4.05 is per radio, ouch...not happening.
Also listening to XM online with Best of Sirius acts the same as XM Everything, you can get music, news Stern etc but no sports or specialty programming.
So there you have it, the best of is up and running however if you're a multi-radio family they're going to bleed you out to activate all your radios.
They sold the FCC and the Subscribers lots of stuff on this, but that does not make it true. I see nothing that says they will not charge the same price for the combo of both complete services that they charge now for each individually. Maybe they will give us a $2 discount or something, but I certainly do not see us ever getting the total package for say $16 bucks or anything. They already are charging $4 per radio just for adding the "best of" from the other service which is a few channels which gives you a cost of $16.99, why would they give you more channels for less than that?

14.99 for the pick your own 100 channel ala carte package. But again, that's NOT available right now, that package will be available when the all in one, dual chip radios are released.
$15 a month for the best of both services isn't bad. Remember sooner or later they are going to consolidate both services. So there will only be 1 70's, 1 80's channels, etc. and the duplicate news and sports channels will be gone. So the best of 100 channels will cover most of the services.
Likewise I see nothing that says XM-sirius Corporation will charge $25.99 for owners of dual-band XM/Sirius radios. At this point it's all conjecture (and FUD*). Rather than say, "This whole deal was bait and switch and the FCC needs to step in", the best course is to take a wait-and-see attitude. Give them time to release the new radios.
I don't understand their pricing for the Mostly Music package ($10). I could buy the A La Carte for $6, pick all music, and save myself some money.
My father is interested in subscribing to satellite radio, but at this point, I'm telling him to hold off until the XM/Sirius "consolidated receivers" are released. So the company is just going need to wait a little longer for us to start giving them money for the receiver and service.

not sure why... the music is now just about the same on xm and sirius. nfl, baseball and a few others are different. buy now, the economy and sxm need it
Now that this thread is back up, I have to say, I wonder if there is any reason to come out with a dual band radio now. They killed any differences in music with the realignment, so it is only the various sports that are not the same. So, half the reasons that people might want both services are now gone.

The only reasons I can think of now would be one as you mentioned, the sports, and also to have a true ala carte radio that you can pick and choose exactly what music stations you want.
They suppose offer a 50 or so channels just music package for $6.99 a month when the dual band units become available.
But besides that, yeah this consolidation seems to have killed much of the reason to have a dual band radio.
The college football games are still on Sirius. I am a Michigan fan and according to the Sirius schedule, they will continue to broadcast Michigan football AND basketball. (That doesn't rule out college basketball on Best of XM).
Well the whole point was to *reduce costs* and by merging channels together they've accomplished that goal. They new combined company is trying to pay-off its debt. (Same way that WB/UPN merged in order to pay off their accumulated debt.)
I'm still waiting for the A La Carte radio. $6 for ~30 music channels plus a few news/talk channels sounds like a good deal to me.
