I've just gotten word that coming the beginning of may, SiriusXM is going to make things a little bit easier for it's customers with Sirius & XM radios. This change will make it easier for you to browse through stations & categories.

1. Add two new stations

2. Align the channel lineup to be nearly identical across the boards

3. Rearrange the channel lineup slightly to place specific channels in categories that make more sense.

I believe the official day is May 9th, which I will double check. On the morning of May 9th, when you turn on your radio you will need to wait 2-5 minutes for your programming changes to be made. If you attempt to listen to your radio & scroll through channels, you will find yourself listening to a different station or the channel numbers not lining up.

Specific vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes, & a few others may need a refresh signal sent to their radio. Specific portable radios will have the same issue if they don't update automatically. As well, some vehicles may actually need to be taken to the dealership to have reset.

When the update hits your radio, there is a possibility of you needing to reset ALL of your presets, or just the presets that were for channels that changed their position on the lineup. As well, blocked channels will need to be re-blocked.

Newsletters about the changes will begin to arrive in your inbox & mailboxes starting around May5th. If you don't have an email address on file, you will receive a mailing. So be on the lookout.

They really need to work on their music programming, every station has such a top 40 feel to it and there is such repetition it's frustrating. Coming from the XM platform it was disappointing when they switched over to the Sirius format.

I remember the last update. Pretty seemless.

This one is probably because they renamed several of the channels in addition to shuffling them around. I read that Pop2k is coming to Sirius (about damn time), Comedy Central will have a channel, Playboy is ending (did anyone seriously listen to that?), Spice got renamed to "sex radio" (does anyone seriously listen to that?), Stars Too is now Indie, etc.

Only thing you really need to do is give your radio a few minutes to update itself in the morning when you first turn it on.

You can thank Clear Channel for that one.

If you're a guy and you've ever wondered what it's like to be bored by sex, listen to the women chatter on about sex on Playboy and Spice.

I agree. First wave and their 80's channel is horrible. It seems like they only have about 20 songs in their library. I have been listing to Underground 80's on Soma.fm and it sounds like what XM use to sound like. There are hits played but there are less familiar songs played too.

Over the past couple of days I noticed a slightly different look to my SiriusXM Log In & Listen page for the Internet streaming. I've also noticed the streaming is now riddled with pops, skips and random echo effects on both the talk radio stations and the music stations. I realize this is a week or so before the presumed "official" change, but are they rolling out a few changes ahead of the official date? Is anyone else noticing this? I never heard that before and am now hearing it every time I log on for my included Lifetime Internet streaming.

I'm wondering, is the new and improved popping, skipping and random echo effect sound reserved just for us Lifetime Sirius Everything subscribers or is that something all Internet streamers will enjoy? rolleyes.gif

Joe - Do you happen to know if there are any plans to add CBC to the SiriusXM lineup? That channel is the only reason I'm still using an old Sirius XACT radio, rather than getting a Lynx and switching over.

I'll check their overview of channels that are changing. I assume since they're trying to line it up across the boards, the answer will be yes. If I can't find it in the training, we would have to just wait untl the actual update happens.

Joe,

While you're checking:
Are there any plans to bring the Clear Channel channels (sorry that sounds stupid) over from XM to Sirius?

I'm thinking those in the 'XM More' section of the channel guide:

At least for ch 166. I was bummed that it was not included (I like Quinn & Rose).

There are at least two "barker channels" with messages stating that what used to be there is no more (123 & 126). They could put 166 on one of those.

BTW: at least one of those on the list is on Sirius today (HUR Voices).

I was really looking for:
166 - America's Talk
168 - Talk Radio

I agree. MLB play by play on Sirius. Fox Sports Radio. Then they need to add CBS Sports Radio, NBC Sports Radio, and Yahoo Sports Radio.

Perhaps I misremembered.

I just heard (over terrestrial radio since I have a Sirius radio that does not get them) that the contract between XM and Clear Channel ends in August. At that time "America Talks" will go dark. This was said on the "Quinn & Rose show" this morning.

I guess this is why only a couple of these channels were added to Sirius in the May shuffle.

channels changed again yesterday and a lot of thr Clear Channel Stations havr been removed such as FOX Sports Radio, WLTW light-FM NY, sixth sense, WGCI, and a few others....

any one else upset with the new changes? I listened to Lite-fm daily and there is no local Fox sports radio in my area so that was upsetting as well.

I emailed XM and Fox sports radio.
fox replied with you can listen to vis I heart radio... I pay for XM so I dont have to use my cell phone data plan. (mad) got a generic message from XM. we need do petition or something to get FSR back on XM.

not being able to listen to Fox pregame show and Dan Patrick radio is upsetting.

I'm a rabid sports fan, and have never had an issue with Fox Sports not being available on the Sirius side. There are plenty of sports talk options. Even Sports 92 (now Sports Zone) has good shows on it. The Dan Patrick show is on Mad Dog 86 9a-12p EST. It used to be on 91, I believe, and then 92 for a short while. These shows move around and makes it tough to find them.

I prefer this show over Tim Brando's (airs at the same time), but I prefer shows hosted by guys who aren't consumed by their celebrity. Both Dan and Tim talk about themselves a lot on their show, when all I really want to hear about is sports. Dino Costa talks about himself a lot on his show too, but he's much less famous than Patrck or Brando, so it just comes off as unwarranted bloviating.

As far as the Clear Channel lite FM stations being removed, who cares? Good riddance. I'll never understand why anyone listens to those.

being in an area (Hampton roads, VA) that does not have a local FOX SPORTS RADIO station this is a huge impact.
i also listened to WLTW (formerly XM ch 13) daily. They played a good mix of music. i have tried listening to" the blend" but its not the same.
I was also unhappy as i did not get an email regarding the changes. when channel/programing changes happen normally tv providers send an email and or alerts about the changes.

when football season is over i will re evaluate my options.

thanks all for feedback.
