I have had XM for over a year and just love XM Channel 27. Does anyone else love this channel like I do?

Cheers,
Jeff

It's so very addictive, isn't it!

Besides the great movie soundtrack music, I do love how they implement dialogue from the 15-minute (or so) block covering each film. I just got done listening to LOTR: FOTR on Cinemagic and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside (literally) that there is an outlet like this that caters directly to the movie and also the home theater enthusiast.

Beyond AM, Beyond FM, XM Satellite Radio!

Cheers,
Jeff

And what's great is that Dave Ziemer (the program director) takes requests and actually plays them. I requested Henry V (St. Crispins Day/The Battle of Agincourt) and he played it for me a day or two later at the beginning of the Big Score. And we had a nice email conversation as well...

I also listen to this channel a lot (having been a fan of film music since i was 10 years old).

In the past it got a little repetitive (I heard "Signs" way too often when it was released on video), but I feel that it has become a lot better.

I did snicker to myself when they had a James Bond festival a month or so ago and they kept playing "Goldeneye" film clips but "Goldfinger" music.

I too, love this channel. It gives you an appreciation of just how much the music influences the video in the movie. It's fun to try to guess which movie soundtrack is playing or which composer(if you haven't heard it announced) before looking to confirm.

Yes, I also wish it was one of the commercial free stations (as well as 80's on 8).

Cheers,
Jeff

I just got XM and LOOOOOVVVVEEEEE This station. I have always been a huuuge fan of Movie Scores since I was a kid and bought the Star Wars Soundtrack. I have also always been a fan of classical music since the 4th grade. I used to love field trips to downtown chicago to visit orchestra hall.

I've got to add that I love this XM channel too!! Actually, I have my career today becaue of my love for movie soundtracks. As a kid and a young violinist, I instantly fell in love with the Star Wars soundtracks, fantisizing that one day I would play them in a professional orchestra. Well, guess what.....today, I have been a performer with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra for almost 20 years. And, one summer I got to meet John Williams, and thanked him for my career. He came here to conduct the orchestra when the Olympic torch came through, and I played. it was an outdoor concert under the famous Gateway Arch. Not only did I get pictures and an autograph, but he wrote out the first 2 bars of the SW melody under his signature. Wow!! I go crazy everytime I hear SW music on this channel.

Question....the sound quality of this channel is excellent. Orchestras sound big, and full, as if a lot more digital bits are being allowed in the signal. However, when I listen to the other classical stations, they sound like bad files that have been downloaded from the internet. Does anyone know what's going on??

XM cuts off everything above 15khz. I don't know what gate Sirius uses, but it is about that range as well. If you know what you are listening for (and as a profesional musician, I'm sure you do), those channels always sound like something is missing.

I haven't played my trumpet since college, but SW was the first melody I figured out for myself and played in the band room before class in school much to the amazement of the other kids :-)

Yes, I suspected that there was some sort of general frequency limitatons in the signal. But I just feel that Cinemagic beats all the classical channels hands down, even while being limited to 15k on the high end. Are there any other listners that have compared the two, and feel the same way I do? Maybe we could petition XM to use the same quality on all the channels.
