XM only because it was the first and was only one available when I was ready to get into Sat Radio. Not sure which I would choose now if I didn't have XM.

I'm not quite sure what information the poll is going to give you that you can't find out through subscription numbers. XM outsells Siri 7 to 1 for now.

It's not subscription #s I'm interested in those are easy to find, it's how many people here at AVS have what provider that I'm interested in and does the AVS community flow with national trends in terms of sat radio.

XM here. My Pioneer HU was XM ready. Made the choice easy. Now they just need to come out with a home unit with SPDIF outputs.

Sirius, because it's overall better to me..

And the dance genre on XM sucks to high heaven.

Can someone please explain US1 on Sirius?

Who in the world is that programmed for?

They will have a Rap song, then a ballad, then a hip hop song, then a rock song, etc...

You have no clue what you are going to get each time you go to that station.

That is my only fault with Sirius so far. Love the unit.

US-1 is doing what is advertise the current top 40 music in America. Look at a Billboard pop chart and you will see the different music.

Well it's horrible. There are so many genres in the top 40 that it's just stupid. I don't know many people that would enjoy a Clay Aiken, Uncle Cracker, (Insert any rapper here) tripple shot.

I tune to it all the time to check out what's playing, but it's just stupid how they do the play order. At least put "like" songs together so you can keep someone from having to turn every song just to check back a few minutes later.

I guess that's what they pay high priced programmers for.

I HAVE XM IN MY CAR AND ON MY BOAT.
I RECENTLY HAD TO PUT MY CAR IN THE BODY SHOP DUE TO A HIT AND RUN IN A PARKING LOT.
THE RENTAL THAT I GOT FROM HERTZ HAS SIRRIUS IN IT. I LIKE OCTANE AND 1ST WAVE !!
THE SIGNAL HOWEVER CUTS OUT ALL THE TIME UNDER AN OVERPASS,NEXT TO POWERPOLES ETC
I DO NOT HAVE THAT PROBLEM W/ XM

I have neither. What I do have are all the music channels on Dish.

I'm not sure why people would subscribe to another service for home use when they already get music off Dish or DirecTV. I understand some areas have the misic channels on their cable service.

As to installing a system in my car I guess I don't spend enough time in it to justify a service. When I go camping or out on the boat I do so to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Why would I want a service there?

Just can't see the sense of it.

Carl,

Why the heck are you in this forum? You must be pretty bored to be browsing threads you have no insterest in. As to why people choose XM or Sirus over cable/dish provided music channels, its all about programming. I've always found Music Choice programming to be terrible. Your taste may differ.

DirecTV= 1 dance channel (admittedly pretty decent)
Sirius= 6 dance channels

I like dance music. Wooo. :)

How about to have some relaxing music on the boat or camping where no station can be found?

Muzak on Dish Network, out of 32 stereo and 19 mono (blah) channels there are a grand total 2 rock stations, Modern Rock Alternative and Power Rock. I don't appreciate the music from the likes of Avril La--whatever on Rock Alternative and Power Rock is anything but, YMMV but IMO Creed and Nickelback don't qualify as 'power'. And plus Muzak channels on E* are edited. I want pure unedited Zombie, Pantera, Slayer, ect. When I get my XM unit it will be used primarily at home. In my truck I have a 6 disc CD changer that keeps the hard edge rock and metal of today and yesteryear pounding. Music Choice is a few steps a head of Muzak with unedited music and a dedicated metal channel, but after listening to Boneyard, XMLM and Squizz I’m hooked!

Bored? No. Just reading the new posts. You know, one of those its 30 minutes before I get off from work and I don't feel like starting something new things.

Ever try doing a search between 4:30 and 5:00 EST? I often get a note that the server is too busy to process the request.

Actually XM does look pretty cool. Unfortunately my house is not set up so I can sit and listen to music. Small children and all. I cannot remember when the last time I did. When the HT is done that will change. I'll have a dedicated room to go to then I may see the appeal of XM.

For now though I still cannot see paying to listen to the radio. If not for the kids I wouldn't even have a Dish.

When I go into the woods I escape, take a book, float in a canoe, and let my mind create the entertainment. Do you remember being able to do that?
