The ES-10 will record whatever it is fed, line outputs are the best way to go(don't use the RF output). I used this method for several years on my older Panasonics and it worked very well and in wide screen and stereo.
Some converter boxes(Zinwell comes to mind) allowed you to program in times to have it automatically change channels but most like mine I could only record from the channel I left it on. I had several converter boxes so I had one hooked to the front line input and one to the rear so I did have the possibility to record from at least two different channels while I was away.
