Are you referring to to me or to ChrisSwanson72?

'Cause my account is still very much open and I'd very much like to complete the purchase at the price he offered.

It looks like a DVR-320-S DVD recorder. No HDD in that one.

Indeed it does, sorry for the false siting then. It's just that it looked more substantial than a HDD-less model and even the remote looked to have more buttons than the average HDD-less model.
Wow, $500 bucks and that was in the early 00s, figuring in inflation and it really shows what a bargain something like a new Magnavox w/HDD is for less than $300!

Same price as the DVR-RT500 DVD/VHS combo I bought in 2005.

The DVR-320-S looks like the little brother of the DVR-520H-S ($799), but without the HDD.
520 on top.

The 520 remote looks pretty much the same as the 320 but has HDD + DVD buttons at the top.
520 remote on left.

As I've posted before I briefly had one of those DVR-RT500 DVD/VHS combos in '05, purchased at Sams Club, I think it was being clearanced out for $349. I was using my first DVDR, a Panasonic ES-30v combo for my standard and I noted several missing features on the RT500 so I returned it after a few days. It was this negative experience with Pioneer that made me kind of write them off, something I kind of wish I hadn't done as it sounds like their HDD models were quite a bit different than the outsourced RT500.

If only I wasn’t so slow making up my mind. I should of grabbed that EH-55 and see what all the craze is from you two and Richard T and others. smile.gif If the EH-55 didn’t serve my needs I could of unloaded it on eBay for a good profit – or send it to one of you guys. smile.gif

Oh well - someone must be enjoying it by now.

Man I wish I had the time and energy to read up on all the reasons to have one of these units. I have a Sony RDR-HX750 that I bought when on was on a project assignment in Canada. Probably got it around 2007 or so and used it once to transfer some old VHS tapes to disc and it's been sitting in the closet ever since. I just looked on eBay and two sold in the last few months for like $500-$600.

I was thinking of selling it on eBay but part of me is wondering what I am missing here if these type of units are such high demand. I've got the manual and remote here but having a hard time tracking down the box. Why are these type of units so popular?

Because you have in machine storage and you can edit all your captures in machine when you feel like it, watch em, burn em whatever. The bigger the hard drive the more you can capture and deal with it later, it's just so much easier ande convenient for everything and you don't even have to burn a disk unless you want to keep it for later after the drive is full. It's like a poor mans Tivo or DVR setup.
The bad part is most systems are digital now so soon the tuner and all that will be pretty much useless and many people are into HD as well, like myself. If you have a use for it and it still works in your area it'd be great, but if you want to get some money out of it I'd sell it soon before you miss the usefull demand for it.

I think I will. I have U-Verse so I really don't have a use for this now. I guess I had something still on the hard drive still. File was 2.7 gb and it burned to a disk and finalised in about 7 minutes. Seems pretty cool but not sure I'd ever use it much.

$50 for a HDD Panasonic that says it hasn't been opened(although it was originally purchased as a open box item for $799 eek.gif)! Probably only 20 minutes from me.
Too bad it's a '02 model with the black level bug, no thumbnails and only full resolution in XP and SP. A classic for sure(first HDD Panasonic) but I'll pass smile.gif
Probably built like a tank, wonder how the caps are doing........

For anyone interested in a Pio HDD(160gb) DVDR(2 separate burners) and component inputs! all for the price of $450(originally $5k I believe).
http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/hn...350196340.html
I did read an old post that it only burnt 4x......not sure if that means it only burns 4x media or if it only burnt AT 4x speed......
I'd be ok with 4x burn speed but I'd imagine finding 4x media wouldn't be very easy now days. Oh it looks very clean
Oh it's a Pioneer PRV-LX1

I'm not really active here at AVS any longer but I still stop by from time-to-time to find out what's happening. My original identity was DigaDo.

Last month I purchased a like-new DMR-EH75 in the original box with all the goodies (even the unused IR and RAM disc) for $100. This was purchased through Craig's List in the Portland Oregon area.

This is my sixth Panasonic EH series recorder, three each EH50 and EH75 models, five purchased through Craig's List in the Portland area and one from Eugene Oregon.

Two of the EH50 models are set up for regular use and one EH50 and all the EH75 models are set aside as standby recorders.

I also have more than a dozen Magnavox and Philips HDD/DVD recorders, four of the Maggies and both Philips are set up for regular use while the rest are set aside as standby recorders.

I also have around three dozen standard series Panasonic DVD Recorders, four of which are in regular use and many are set aside as standby recorders and there are others set aside as parts machines. Three of the regular use Panasonics are 2005/2006 ES series models and one is an EA18 from 2009.

Only one of my six EZ series models remains in service (used by my daughter), the rest are parts machines.

I still have perhaps a year's supply of pre JVC TY blanks on hand as well as a similar number of (NOS) Verbatim AZO blanks and a few spindles of (NOS) Maxell blanks.

I'm a geezer so these holdings will probably outlast me.

I'm curious. Why did you find it necessary to establish and post under a second identity on the forum.

The second identity was created in 2012 and a post made. He posted under the old identity as recently as 7/15.

My older computer crashed several months ago. I purchased another computer. When I couldn't get in with the new computer I used backup links from an old disc and found myself in a couple of discussion groups logged in with my old, seldom used identity of VoxHumana. Now I need to make more posts so I may post links and photos to get back into discussions.

After a few months of sitting in the corner I powered on my old computer and after several tries it booted up and is functional once again. But I prefer to use my new computer as it's really better than the old one.

In recent months my time has been very much taken up with my 50 Year High School Reunion related activity so that I've had little time for participation in several of the regular forums where I've been active. My wife bought me a Canon SLR because my circa 1999 Kodak wasn't up to the tasks I was soon to undertake. (The Canon proved to be a learning experience for me.)
