Please don't stack a bunch of components on top of each other.
Some of the ads on craiglist claim that the VCR is in perfect working condition. That may have been true before the seller disconnected the VCR and stacked 50 or more pounds of stuff on top but I personally wouldn't trust a VCR to load, eject or properly track a tape after such abuse. And it doesn't take long-term stacking to do damage - The VCR could be thrown out of alignment immediately after it comes in contact with too much weight.
Beware, I advise not to buy any VCR that has a bunch of components stacked on top of it in the ad or at the seller's residence. Before purchasing any VCR look for signs of excessive stacking, dropped components or any other abuse or misuse.
In the enclosed pictures of current local CL ads I see many lightweight VCRs on the bottom of what appears to be some pretty heavy gear.
