We got our first MDR515H/F7 in Sept. (W/ much thanks to this forum.) Fell in love w/ it and 2 weeks later bought a second. Both working fine. Decided to get a third "just in case" since we figured getting repairs would be impossible if something went wrong w/ one of the units which we can't live without.

Went to Amazon. Units cost us $250 - 290 in Sept. Today they're selling for $400. (OK, as low as $345 but when you add the shipping all the prices converge at $400).

Noticed that if we plugged in MDR515H/F7, there's a lower price (under $300) and a notice that a newer model exists, MDR515H.

Checked the Walmart site. Shows out of stock online or discontinued.

Does anybody know what is going on?

Amazon prices have always been higher than Walmart or J&R (refurbs). The 515 was supposed to be produced thru 1st qtr 2012 but looks like they're either not or delayed awhile getting here.

Walmart still has over 2000 ea. new 513's which you can make operate like the 515 with SuperFW 727V Update.

J&R has the 513 refurbs for $170 or the 515 refurbs for $200. These have been excellent per buyer reports here for many years.

Magnavox website no longer lists them or any dvd recorders at all. All the models are now blu ray players only and one has a vhs/dvd combo player only.

You have to click the small arrow at right to go to next page, where all the DVD recorders are.
