Good day,

I too would like to throw my hat in the ring of newbies looking to employ the highly praised services of MICKINCT to service a Panasonic DVD recorder. I've got a DMR-EZ475VK that recently started with the NOREAD error and I would love to get it working again. As I haven't reached my 15 posts to PM you, could you reach out to me?

Thanks,
keen

Anyways, I am an owner of a Panasonic DMR-EH55 and have sent my unit into to fellow AVS member MICKINCT, and could not be happier with the results from his end...YES, I did have UPS lose track of the package for a week (lol) but MICKINCT was in constant contact with me and after he finally received the package, fixed my unit and within 1 day and had it shipped right back to me.

I can't strongly endorse using him enough if you are having any issues with your dvd recorder (especially Panasonics) He is professional, prompt and is on the ball at all times. I received very timely emails and phone calls with status updates.

So if you are in need of any repair or tweaking of your unit, send a PM to MICKINCT

Bill
How can I reach Mickinct? I'm new and don't have any posts yet. Thanks

HELP MICKINCT;
I'm new member without an posts. I have been reading with interest the posts about other DVD recorders that you have helped people with. I have a Panasonic DMR-EH75V that stopped recognizing blank recordable DVD's about a month ago (error U88?). I have used this great machine often over the years, and would really like to have it available to me again. Please let me know if you are still fixing such machines and what steps I need to take.
Thank you VERY much!

Smile repair if panasonic dmr-e85

I would like to add my name to the fans of MICKINCT. He repaired my unit in one day and I had it back in the same week. Excellent communications and service. A great resource for those who own Panasonic equipment.

I've got two Panasonic units I need help with and it sounds like mickinct is the man to go to. I've got too few posts to pm him. I've got a DMR-ez45v with laser problems and a DMR-es45v that won't resond to any remote control inputs. Loved both units when they worked.
Can you help a former fellow nutmegger?

Panasonic E85H repair ......

MICKINCT,

I have read great things about your work on Pannys.

I'm another newbie to the forum .... but an owner of 2 Panasonic E85H's since 2004 -- have had to replace capacitors in both. They both have worked great since replacements ..... until this morning.

Today one stopped reading any disc i put in -- I have tried blank ones, finalized ones, and commercial ones. I can still power the unit up, still record and edit but when I load a disc to burn I get a "no read" message.

I can't PM you -- please send me one --

Thanks,
Keith Wyatt

Panasonic DMR-ES40V

mickinct

Hello Mike,
I have a Panasonic DMR-ES40V, which has performed well since new in Dec., 2006, until it started acting up last week. Here are my observations:
1. Started receiving "Err - Cannot read. Please check disc" message; this message appears even when there is no disc in the tray.
2. Unplugged and plugged unit. Now the unit will not hold initial setup settings when powered off and back on; the clock retains the time, but every time the unit is turned on, I get the "Select Language" message.
3. Disassembled, and cleaned lens and spindle, per DigaDo thread.
4. While DVD drive lid was removed, I noted upon closing the tray that the laser assembly would leave the read position and bump the spindle, then return to read position and flash the laser, three times in total before the spindle would spin for 2 seconds and stop. I guess this is the "clunking" sound others too have noted.
5. I was able to record another disc, but received the "Err - Cannot read. Please check disc" message again after I put in another disc.
6. I have not received any of the error codes that others have mentioned on the forums, such as U61, U88, or U99.

I love this unit, and like I said, I haven't had any issues with it until recently. Many have stated that your work in getting Panasonic DVD recorders back into shape is exceptional, and unrivaled. Would you be able to get my machine back to near-new condition and if so, would you have any ballpark figure as to cost?
I am a newbie to the forums, hence I cannot PM you directly.

Thank you,
Eric Holtz

mickinct - received PM; unable to respond

I received a PM from Mike pertaining to my Panasonic DMR-ES40V. I am unable to respond as I no longer use a phone, nor can I respond through PM. Can I reach him via e-mail? I apologize for posting this here, but I didn't know where else.
Thank you,

Mickinct: Panasonic dmr-e75v repair

My PANASONIC DMR-E75V has no power, no lights come on, no error messages. It seems like it died or got fried. From what I have gathered so far, it is very likely to be either the fuse OR the capacitors OR both (maybe the cord, but less likely).

I did open the unit - to at least see what things looked like inside. The fuse appeared to be intact (filament was not broken and no burn residue), but it does seem to have a little "bead" in the middle and it was hard to see with the colored lines on the glass part of the fuse. I have not taken it to Radio Shack to test it yet, but could do that. There were 3 capacitor-looking cylinders on the board that had some brown junk on top of them (2 larger and 1 smaller) all within the same general location. So, I assume it will need to have those replaced. I can look for other things if you like in order to see if it is worth fixing.

You seem be the "go to" man for fixing these units, BUT I am a new member and cannot send you a Private Message. Can you please contact me to let me know how to contact you to discuss next steps???

Mickinct: DVR repair

Mickinct,

I am amazed at what I've read here. What awesome service for the many with this equipment! I hope you're continuing it. I have a 10-year old EH75V which just stopped reading DVDs. It is in like new condition but has never been serviced.

How do I obtain your help from Nebraska?

Thanks,

Budstrom
