Last year, I bought a VCR/DVD combo at Best Buy and it's awesome! When I was there at the time, I noticed that they also sold Dual Tray DVD Recorders as well, but I couldn't afford it at the time. Yesterday, I checked out their website but they don't have them any more. I checked other places with the same result.

Are Dual Tray DVD Recorders no longer popular? Have they been discontinued?

I didn't even know they existed, so I guess they never were popular. The only one I could find info on was a 2005 Samsung model DVD-TR520.
You're not talking about a DVD duplicator are you? Those are more common, but do not have the same functionality.

Last year that Samsung(the only one I've know to have dual drives) was a '06-07 model.....again unless you are talking about DVD duplicators which are quite common(although I don't know if BB sells them) here.
More on the Samsung TR520.

Wow, I didn't know they made them, either. I remember a thread a couple years ago asking about them.

With HDD recorders, it really wasn't necessary to own dual tray recorders, as they could rip to the hard drive (assuming no CP) and burn quicker than real-time copying. And you could make multiple copies easier.

Don't believe everything on the Interwebz! A duck's quack DOES echo!

Yeah, I'd figured that the HDD Recorders is what lead to the demise of the Dual Tray DVD Recorders. In fact, I recently went to Best Buy and the salesman told me the same thing. Oh well, I guess I'm better off just buying another DVD Recorder instead. Thanks for the feedback, people! smile.gif
