I know this unit is old but does anyone know why this device doesn't detect the same HD channels as my television does. I have 2 units and they both seem to act the same. I'm connected through cable with no cable box.

tnx Sam

Thanks. I looked at the file. Very informative. It pretty much says that I should see the same channels on my DVD as my TV. This is my problem on 2 diff boxes and TV's. I don't see the same HD channels on the DVD as I do the TV. Kind of wierd. Its as if the DVD doesn't recognize what is being transmitted like the TV does. Not the connection because it runs thru the dvd to get to the TV.

I had to re-read that section of the help file to see if it really does say the channels will be "the same" and a reader could get that impression, so I'll have to revise it to say the Mags should get the same CONTENT (network/shows) but they MAY OR MAY NOT be on the same MAIN CHANNEL NUMBERS.

My previous cableco (when I wrote that) DID have its channels on the same MAIN channel numbers as my HDTVs, just diff. subchannel numbers,, but now, with my new Charter, there's no similar correlation... depends entirely on the local cableco.

You'll have to look for CONTENT... same network (NBC, ABC, etc. and local channel call sign, like WBRC, WABC, etc.) and show on your HDTV and the Mag.

Thanks for your help. I found the main channels in HD. They are even the same on both of my Philips recorders. What is odd is that I have several TV's and the HD channels are different on each of them also. Wierd.... You would think the TV's would be the same channel but they are different manufacturers...
