I've been using the EH59 for a week and LOVE it. so consumed with capturing old vhs tapes and editing and dividing that I still haven't burned a disc from it. Plan on doing that tonight.

One question though, for any of you familiar with all the features. In the play menu there is a Noise Reduction (NR) feature. Do you know whether that just affects the picture during playback, or will it alter the picture during capture/recording to the HDD? Is it safe to leave on at all times or when a VHS has no noise should i be sure to turn it off?

I personally cannnot tell the difference between picture with or without NR but my eye is not as trained as some of you.

It's for recording from the line input and yes i leave it on all the time. It's kind of subtle but it does help with a noisy source like tape.
