I just bought a Toshiba 430. This unit does not have a hard drive but will record anamorphic.
Looking at the TOSHIBA RD-XS52 wanted to know if it also can record anamorphic.
I will explain what I have found. On the 430, if I send it S-video 16x 9 (a standard def signal but looks squeezed),
and set the 430 record mode to 16 x 9 - the finished produce will play in full 16 x 9 on a wide screen TV with the
play display settings set to 16 x 9 and when playing that same DVD on player that has its display settings as
4:3 the program ill automatically play letterboxed.
DVD recorders that do not have tis function will just play back squeezed whe seem on a 4:3 TV
What I what to know is if the TOSHIBA RD-XS52 has this capability....
It would have 16x9 setting in the record mode menu.
