I’ve been looking for an external HD for my 3 Tuner Moxi and have found what looks like might be a good solution. It is a WD 4 TB external HD with esata connection and RAID array. Moxi says that the 3-tuner has been tested successfully up to a 6 TB drive. The price doesn’t seem too bad for the amount of storage either (WD also has a similar model in 6TB size). Can anyone think of a reason why this might not work with the Moxi? In looking through threads elsewhere in this forum about Moxi external HDs, there doesn't seem to be any "guiding principle" on which HDs one can expect to work in advance other than finding the names of some older drives which have been proven to work on the Moxi by others.
Finding newer drives such as this one which haven't yet been tested on a Moxi by others (and which may or may not work) seems to be a "crap shoot". Paying $200 - $300 for a HD which may not work on the Moxi seems to be pretty risky unless there are some pretty solid reasons ahead of time to bet that it will work. Finally, this drive doesn't seem to be "DVR certified" but I'm not sure what that really means. There seem to be some non "DVR certified" HDs which are working successfully on the Moxi.

The more that I've been thinking about this, the more I think that the concern about this drive might be the Raid array. I'm not sure that the Moxi could handle the Raid, whether it was running as a Raid 0 or Raid 1.
