Needed 4/5 phone calls to Panasonic 1-800 to get a geez, sounds broke. Sent unit to MaAllan, TX. Get a correspondence stating to call. Did call and told that I must authorize $245.00 payment for a technician to look at it. Tech would also cost me $45.00. If any money from $245.00 left it would be returned to me. Told them to keep it and recycle it "safely" on their end. They returned it(?) so I may try to fix it myself. I really doubt that I can but one never knows until one tries! Are there any Panny repair places other than Texas?

Here at the AVS Forum are to be found many Horror Stories told by those contacting Panasonic Customer Service only to get entangled in the Panasonic McAllen Texas Wild Goose Chase.

See this post for Panasonic Recorder basic diagnostic information, descriptions and photos of routine servicing procedures and a link providing contact information for Mickinct (Mike in Connecticut) the AVS Forum's Resident Panasonic Master Technical Consultant & Surgeon:

If you want to read of good outcomes for Panasonic owners helped by Mickinct see this recent thread, just one of several like it:
