DVD tray won't open until you do all the initial setup procedures... set clock, set OSD Language (Display menu), and do an auto channel scan (Channel menu).
Oops, I forgot that the 620 doesn't have a tuner, it's for "line-in" recording from an external box, like a cable or sat STB, VCR, etc.
Not sure what your last reply was indicating. I'm far from trying to record TV broadcasts, just getting started with this new machine. I've explored all the setup menus and enterred the date and time, etc. Pushing the "open" button (on the front panel or the remote) doesn't seem to work. The hinged door moves slightly (just enough so see it move), but that's all. I'm on the verge of returning this box unless someone can tell me I'm doing something wrong. Thanks!
You said you couldn't find a channel scan menu and I said, oops, that's right, it doesn't have a tuner to scan channels for.
If the tray moves at all but stops, that does indicate a problem. It could be a simple fix but might require opening the lid, which would void your warranty. A return seem to be the best option.
