We have 3 VCRs in the house, and all of them refuse to power up now. We don't use them very often, so we don't know exactly when they died. But since all 3 are dead, I wonder if they all died at the same time, maybe from a power surge or something? All 3 VCRs were hooked up to surge protectors that had other devices plugged into them - TVs and DVD players. All of the TVs and DVD players are still working, only the VCRs died. Any idea why they aren't powering up? If it's not a simple fix, I'll take at least one of the VCRs to a repair shop.

I'd try unplugging them from surge protectors and leaving unplugged for an hour or so, Then, while re-plugging directly into a wall plug, hold the power button on the front of each unit. Continue holding the power button until you see some power indication in the front panel display.

See if that might be a "soft reset" method for one or more of those VCRs? Your VCRs might well have been mfgd by Funai and that's a typical soft reset for their recorders.
