question is I want to use  sony hdr pj 70v cam corder and connect it to a Magnavox mdr 537h dvd recorder can I burn a disk an keep recording to the Magnavox recorder

I transfer my Sony HD camcorder stuff to my Mag HDD, edit as necessary, then burn high speed copy tp DVD. The Mag can't record from two sources at once, so yes, you can record or copy direct to a DVD, but you can't record something else to the HDD at the same time (if that was your question).
