“wajo” and others,

There seems to be a new member in the Magnavox MDR5__/F7 Family/Series and derivatives. The MDR577H/F7 appears to be new and includes a 1 TB HDD.

• Is the feature set pretty much the same as the 53_ Series?

• Is the 577 merely a M/N renumbering/refreshing, or is there an actual technical/specification difference between the 537 and 577 upon manufacturing/shipping?

Thank you all in advance.

I checked and found a 577 on Amazon, $349.99... checking it out now to see if it's just a type?

Add-1: The Amazon page is the only link I've found and it has no info to help us. I gotta believe it's a typo... so far.

Add-2: One interesting thing on Amazon page... "Usually ships within 2 to 5 weeks." Sounds like what they'd say for a NEWish item they've yet to receive!? Could still be a typo or a new batch of the 537 with a new model number???

There's more info but the model is 557, not 577.

I just downloaded the manual to take a look.

http://www.magnavox.com/support/download_list.php

I did a quick comparison of the table of contents between the 557 and 537 manuals. They look nearly identical.
The "Make Recording compatible" chapter is not in the 557 manual.
There appears to be a new editing feature added, "Combining Titles."

Amazon has now lowered the price to $313.76. Must mean that Amazon will be shipping soon.

Wonder why they don't have a picture of the front of the unit.

The bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten . . . life is too short to drink bad wine
