I am interested in which would be more practical for me. The Philips has component inputs which interests me as I have Directv (HDTV) receiver that has component outputs. On the other hand, I have read where people have had problems with the Philips. And the Panasonics seem to have a really reputation on this board.
My main use will be to record off the air with as good of picture as I can get. My recordings will be mainly movies and sporting events. Since I won't be able to record the HDTV signal anyway, would I lose anything not getting the component inputs?
