Ok, while browsing to buy the new 120gb E100 panny model, I came across a shop who told me that there is actually an "H" and an "HS" model. He mentioned that the only differences were the size of the hard drives. One has an 80gb and another has a 120gb. Is this true? If so, I might go ahead and pick up the 80gb version, as no store I've contacted has the 120gb version in stock.

E100H = 120gb drive (most likely black case?)
E100HS = 120gb drive, silver case

E80HS = 80gb drive, silver case

You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair, and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them? So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe.

That's weird. Some stores were telling me that the 100H is an 80GB whereas the 100HS is a 120gb....

Can anyone clarify?

E80H = 80gb drive, silver case.

I would have bought a black case version if it was available.

I have an equipment cabinet with smoked glass doors. The E80 was the only component I had that was not black, so its mirrored surface stuck out like a sore thumb. :( I "fixed" the problem by masking off the front of the E80 with black electrical tape, carefully trimming around the buttons, lights, and remote sensor with an X-Acto knife. Behind the smoked glass doors, it looks just fine.

It took me about an hour, and its reversable in case I ever need to "undo" it.

Can anyone confirm that there is a difference in HD space between the 100H and 100HS?

No difference. Both 120GB. One black the other silver, that's all.

Panasonic has done this with several players/recorders in the past. Sometimes they list it as H, sometimes HS, but it's the exact same unit either way, and it's silver. K is the letter Panasonic uses for black units, and unfortunately they seem to be going away from making anything in black these days. I think the E50 is the only recorder that existed in black of the models that came out this year.
