I recorded a 2 hour concert with commercials at SP. After editing out filler material and commercials, I have it down to 1:18. If I take out a couple of songs I can live without, I can get it down to 1 disc XP territory - 1:04.. So the question is, will I get better PQ doing a high speed dub or just dubbing at XP?

Thanks in advance,

Tbill

There probably won't be a visible difference. The high speed dub would be a bit for bit copy. The XP dub would be re-encoded at a higher bitrate than the original, but can't contain any more information than the original and would take twice as much space on a disk.

The high speed dub is as good as you'll get, You can also set chapter marks to allow you to skip the two songs if you want, while retaining them, or add 40-50 minutes of other video if you want to.

You actually can do a hi speed dub with 1:04 minutes- it does let you slide 4 or 5 minutes but... only if you had the compatibility on feature during original HDD record.

Houston Guy,

FYI,

I did a 2 hr recording at SP on a dvd-ram disc, which I edited down to 1:04. Then I did a high speed dub back to the HDD, from which I tried to dub back on a DVR-R at XP. I got a "not enough space" message....
