Do I need to use RCA composite into the E80 from my cable box instead of S-Video I'm using now, to improve the recorded picture? The live signal image looks fine, but recording looks fuzzier. I guess I'll try it.

Are you looking at a recording or just live TV thru the recorder ?

The Panny recorders do seem to me to degrade the picture when watching live TV. However, the recordings always look fine.

Both, my digital cable box output goes thru my Panny E80 whether I'm just watching or recording. The recordings look softer than the live signal looks.
I'll have to do some more testing, but I might use the RCA video input instead of the S-video jacks between the cable box and the Panny.
