I recorded some fights onto a DVD-RAM disc on my Panny E50. Then I took the disc to my DVD-RAM/-R recorder on my computer...I have the trial edition of Ulead DVD Workshop so that I could edit the fights and make the start of each fight a new title.

I copied the video file from the disc to my hard drive and then changed the file extension of the .vro file to .mpg. If I play the file in windows media player, it plays video and audio perfectly...however, when I bring it into DVD Workshop, there is no audio...only video.

Anybody know where to go with this?

I have the same thing with recordings from my E50, using TMPGEnc DVD Author. When I play the clips using the authoring software, no sound.

However, when I burn the edited/authored files back to DVD, the sound plays fine. I have left all audio settings at default.

Have you tried burning and playing? Do you get sound?

I read on another forum that some ULead progs have trouble with multiplexed AC3 audio (the format used by the Panny?).

TMPGEnc DVD author was recommended to me as the best for editing DVD recordings. It certainly does eveything I need. Free trial available for download. Check out for info/download.

There is an undocumented setting in DVDWS that allows playback of AC3 audio.

On my PC running XP its in: C:\\Documents and Settings\\All
Users\\WINDOWS\\Application Data\\Ulead Systems\\Ulead DVD

In that file change the line that says:
then restart DVDWS.
