It's getting a little tiresome answering the same question over and over about "my Panasonic DVD-R's won't play on other machines" with the inevitable answer being: "Finalize your disk!"

If you are having DVD-R compatibility problems, it would be helpful if:

1. Before you post, ensure you finalized your disks using the Disk Setting menu on the Panny.

2. Indicate in your post that: (1) you are specifically referring to DVD-R (and not DVD-RAM) - just saying "recorded disc" is not helpful and (2) indicate that you did indeed finalize your disk.

3. Be specific about the recording mode, length of recording, brand of media, and affected player model.

Oh, and yes, by all means RTFM (see next post, below) and do a quick search of the forum to see if your question has already been answered BEFORE YOU POST!

This way we can eliminate a lot of unnecessary posting and attempt to help those that have true playback compatibility issues.

Just trying to help increase the forum's s/n ratio.

It would also help is all "first timers" to DVD recording read the manual 2 or 3 times and then posed their questions. DVD recording is much more complicated than VHS and you need to read the manual to understand how to get the most out of your recording.

Vic and all the DVD Recording Gurus,

Would it be possible for this sub forum to have a FAQ of all the topics that seem to be a recurring theme with periodic changes / updates as necessary. This "could" save some (not all) repeat questions, etc. I think it could be incredibly helpful as this specific sub forum will continue to see a drastic increase in traffic as the prices come down on equipment, ease of use continues to evolve. What do you guys think?
