How can I insert a 3 to 5 second pause or space between programs when dubbing from hard drive to DVD-R? I am recording some music videos and I want space between them. I thought of recording a black space as a program and inserting that between each song. But then each black space would be seen as a program too during searching. So instead of 20 programs of songs, I would have 40 programs with the black spaces??
OIr maybe I should figure out how to record each video with a blank space at the end of each video somehow.

You could create a program of blank space on the HDD. Then, make a playlist title which would be an amalgam of the blank space (at the beginning or end or both) and each music video. Then dub the playlists to DVD-R You'd have the blank space you want, and only wind up with 20 titles.

Oh, sounds interesting. I've never even looked at the Playlist feature.
Will each playlist be a chapter or a program?

Yes, each playlist is a program and shows up as an individual menu title. Playlists are very useful when you have to create a single program that is made up of sections/pieces of other programs on the HDD.

In addition, a playlist allows you to rearrange the scene sequence of a program on the HDD without actually editing/altering the master footage.

I'll have to play around with it. With about 20 music videos, say, I'd want the chapter headings to show each music video as a separate title. How many titles on a DVD can there be?

I think the limit is 99.

And as a nugget of trivia, the HDD also has a current limit of 250 titles. This will likely change with the introduction of the DMR-E1000H, which will have a 500GB HD;)
