I noticed that there are some Panny E50 recorders
floating around. Does anyone know if this model
uses the same well designed MPEG2 decoder
used in the 82 and XP30 and 50, and also what
type of de-interlacer chip does this model use??

It doesn't have the excellent Foroudja de-interlacer like the RP82,XP30 models - panasonic doesn't use it anymore only an inferior chipset.
