Hello - I have the Magnavox 513 and loved it. Charter just transitioned to all digital format so now every tv requires a cable box. Previously I was using a cable splitter so I could watch one show on cable and record another on the dvr, of course that no longer works. I am looking for a cheap easy way to do it. I have read a lot on this forum and am totally overwhelmed! Is there any device I can attach to the dvr so I can record something other than what I'm watching? Some kind of cablecard capable tuner?
This recently happened to us when BrightHouse converted from analog to digital and scrambled ALL of our channels. Fortunately, we still had an antenna in the attic and simply connected (piggyback) our two Magnavox 513 recorders to it. While we don't have the variety of channels offered through cable, we do enjoy all of the local TV networks. We're anticipating doing away with cable next year, and replacing it with OWA and Netflix.
I love my Magnavox Dvd Recorder has anyone tried throwing in a dl dvd burner capable of burning double layer dvd's or even a blu ray burner in one of these?? Any luck burning anything other than a standard dvd? Thanks
Not that I know of. Since the DVD burner has a calibrated Main PCB (CBA in Funai terms) that controls it, you'd have to obtain (or re-program?) a mated PCB, plus all the other things associated with its interaction with the OS.
