I have 3 questions I could really use advice on:

1) The HT-S7100 is sold out in many places. It is about 7 months old. Does anyone know when this system will be refreshed by Onkyo with a newer model? Does the unavailability have anything to do with a refresh? Is there a typical time of the year that audio manufacturers release new systems?

2) For my room setup on a 7.1 system, my front left and right speakers would be at ear level if I were standing, but the center speaker will be just below the knee if standing. The HT-S7100 manual recommends the same level for all 3 speakers. How much of a problem will this be?

3) My rear 7.1 speakers will be a good 15ft behind the listener, ft above, and 8ft shifted over to the left side. The manuals just says to position them "behind the listener about 2-3ft above ear level". How much of a problem will this be?

1. no rumors about newer Onkyo HTiB's
2. the height difference will be more noticable the closer you are to the TV and speakers. It will tend to smooth out as you move back from the TV. Sometimes you just have to play the cards as they are dealt.
3. the rear speaker "shift" will create a off-center rear soundfield...just how bad only you can judge. Could you use speaker stands to position the rear speakers, have some form of easy disconnect on the wiring and just move the stands out of the way when not watching a movie ?

Thanks - I had never even considered the possibility of moving the speakers in place only when watching a movie.

If anyone hears any rumors on new Onkyos please pass them on.
