Trying to decide which one is better... the LG is about $150 more, but it has the wireless sub.

I am going to use a Mistubishi 73" DLP and a Time Warner HD DVR. I am renting my place so need something "non-intrusive," hence the wireless requirement.

Anybody have any thoughts on these two setups?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul, I wrote a quick review on my initial feelings of the Sony BDV-E770W and I am very happy with my purchase... see the "Official BDV-E770W" thread in this HTIB forum.

As far as the subwoofer, I am amazed at how much power the tiny speaker wire transmits without having an independent amplifier built in. I really like the features so far, but am disappointed that they released it without a lot of the functionality being ready yet. Apparently a firmware update is coming in June, but we'll have to live without Pandora and Qriocity VOD until then.

If it wasn't for the Update 'bricking' so many 770's, I would have likely already owned it.

I am also in the market and looking at HTIBs with wireless rears.

P.S. All system still run a single speaker cable between the two rear speakers. No wire from the receiver to the rears.

One big difference between LG LHB975 and the Sony
LG has two HDMI inputs. Sony has none.

Ipod/Iphone dock is better on LG. It's a drop down panel on the front on the LG. Sony is a USB plug interface.

LG LHB975
Ipod/Iphone dock on LG looks pretty sharp. It's a drop down front panel that seems clean.
No headphone jack.
No on board memory for BD Live. Not a biggy, you need a 1 GB USB thumb drive. (Don't know how popular BD Live is).
Both AM and FM tuners
Has a powered sub. (wireless) Should provide more bass, but no guarantee.
Manual speaker calibration. No included mic and calibration software. Lame.
Quick load for fast blu-ray start.

Samsung HTC6730W (7.1)
One really bad design issue. Only 2 of the 4 rear speakers are wireless. (left rear and right rear). The rear center left and rear center right are still wired to the receiver unit.
So, this is is really a 5.1 system if you don't want to run wires from the unit to the back of your room. Idiots....
Sub is passive.

Panasonic SC-BT730 (have to purchase a USB dongle for wireless LAN) Figure about $80 - $100 bucks extra if you plan to go wireless LAN.

When I bought my system a month ago, it had the most recent version already installed.
