Originally I had an Onkyo 7100, which included a TX-SR606 reciever. This unit was able to do analog to digital conversion beautifully. I had a stb receiver and Wii plugged in via Component and then HDMI out to my projector. Picture was fabulous. Also when I would switch from either of those to my PS3 (hooked via HDMI) it just switched over with effortlessly. No complaints.
Then, after about 1.5 years the receiver kept having the centre channel blow, and the repair centre couldn't figure out why, so they gave me the Onkyo 7300 package free as a replacement.
The receiver though does a TERRIBLE job of converting the analog video to digital, as the stb receiver (720p) and Wii (420p) look awful. No lines, but saturated colors. Also it takes forever when switching components as it tries to from 720p to 420p and back and forth. This part is not a big deal, but the bad PQ is.
I guess my question is - Is there something in the settings I need to adjust, or has Onkyo just gone downhill in the last 2 years? I notice there is now a Monitor Out setting that wasn't on the 606, and I have it set to Auto. Changing it to 720p does nothing to help.
Hoping someone has an answer.........thanks!
