I just pulled the trigger and bought a new Epson 8350 (my first projector) now i am planning to upgrade my sound system, currently i have Onkyo HT-R550 HTIB system but it doesnt decode true HD dolby/dts. Do you guys have any suggestion on what should i replace with my onkyo, my budget is $300-$400 max.

Or if you have any suggestion for just the reciever, cuz i think i can just keep the speakers on my R550 system.

For $400, you can get the Onkyo 5400 or maybe one of the Denon HTIB's. If you just need a receiver, watch Fry's and some of the other places for specials. I nabbed the Onkyo RC360 for 250 at Fry's 2 weeks ago. It replaced the R580 that came w/ my S5300 HTIB. The difference is amazing.

Check some of the other threads for some more options. A lot of people are looking for the same thing....that may be why no one's replied yet.

Vanns, B&H Photo, or J&R are great places to price some systems or just receivers as well.

Yes, very few discs have 7.1 tracks. But, you can matrix 5.1 into 7.1. So, if you have a room that works for 7.1, go for it.
